Anonymous8(6): @Jebus-Kreist: Sounds like you're just here to bitch to me. And what was meant before is that facially, and physically, they look very much on-model to the characters they're supposed to be. Even Krystal's tattoos look right (virtually no-one bothers with the one on her back). Oh, and if they were actually fully proportionate to the characters... they would have giant heads and smaller limbs, not to mention the styles of the game themselves have changed throughout each instalment, so your argument has a few holes in itself, and that's a change I'd consider acceptable. This is like bitching about Wind Waker Link not being "accurate" to the character when he's done in a more OOT style.

One teeny little flaw (and considering males tend to be larger than females in general, hardly even that) doesn't automatically make something "crap".

Jebus-Kreist: @Anonymous: Now who said it was crap? Though it looks to be made in ms paint 6 colours and no shading. And on that note Fox being muscular is purely assumption since not once any part of his body has been exposed except his face and hands.

Continue the anger, it feeds me.
- Reply
Anonymous9(6): @Jebus-Kreist: I'll give you the point on the no shading, that would be nice.

And... no Fox being at least slightly muscular isn't really assumption considering the games show him to be a physically fit guy who can perform martial arts, his bare arms in Adventures are fluffy, but still fairly thick... and in the same game he manages to out-muscle a seven foot dinosaur.

So... that would make you a troll then? Since you're asking to be fed?
avatar

Jebus-Kreist: @Anonymous: The part of "out-muscle a sevonfoot dinosaur" and "arms fairly thick"... he doesn't especially out-muscle anyone other then spam "magic" with the staff and keep them away by swinging it repeatedly. He has got a lesser muscle build, not exactly well defined in any way, better then krystal, but still not the way he is constantly portrait. He still has more muscle then he should... "can perform martial arts" that was just thrown in at his character so he actually had a purpose to be onfoot in super smash bros. and dinosaur planet. Anyone can perform martial arts with training, which confuses me as to why an animal on its hind legs knows human fighting techniques without being taught them.

Anonymous10(6): @Jebus-Kreist:
I was referring to Musclefoot... as well as another large SharpClaw in the Test of Strength, not staff combat (though considering the builds of some of his opponents, and the weapons they carry, it still would give some reason for his physicality).
Seriously man, it's like you've never even played the games, just going off what you've heard online. And now you're actually arguing against the characters abilities as defined in the games (for the record, most combat pilots do tend to physically fit, and need to be able to defend themselves on foot)... if you're not a troll, you're doing a damn good job of acting like one.

Jebus-Kreist: @Anonymous: I've played most of the games, got intensely bored of starfox adventures by the time I got a little past saving... tippy?. Pilots do know how to defend themselves onfoot, but not with a completely different "species" non-standardized special fighting techniques... They learn basic footsoldier close-quarters combat. And now that i know about musclefoot I'm going to youtube this scene... lets see musclefoot is really damn scrawny, is going barefoot against Fox's potentially extremely well gripped shoes(if they don't have some kind of technological advancement in grip), as well as its a challenge, it HAS to be beatable or else it is pointless.

I could swing a 7 foot pole around and defend myself from bigger and stronger enemies, and I'm pretty sure you can too. That isn't especially a good point on strength, more then Range Advantage at its finest.

Anonymous11(6): @Jebus-Kreist:
So in other words, you have pretty much never played the game. And dude, sorry, but your responses are just dumb. Arguing against Fox using human-style fighting techniques? You may as well start bitching about how he walks about on two legs, wears clothes, has capacity for speech, and flies around in technologically advanced futuristic aircraft while you're at it.

And Musclefoot scrawny? Are you blind? Compared to Fox the guy is huge. And considering Fox is canonically supposed to be 5 foot 8... yeah, you're blind. http://images.wikia.com/starfox/images/1/13/MuscleFoot_s_HUUUUUUGE_by_RikMcCloud.jpg Plus y'know, he has CLAWED FEET, so your argument of Fox wearing footwear allowing him to grip the ground also has a hole in it.

And no offense, but I call bullshit on your last comment. You can flail around wildly, maybe. Actually fight against bigger, stronger enemies than you with a ranged weapon that you don't know fighting techniques for? I'm guessing you've never tried it. The strength you put into your swing, as well as where you strike, means just as much as the range. Otherwise you may as well start arguing you could beat up a bear with a stick just because that stick gives you some distance.

And finally. "it HAS to be beatable or else it is pointless"... that's the weakest argument I've ever seen for stating a character isn't as capable as they appear, especially for a video game.

At this point I would call you a troll. But you're arguing with way too much thought and conviction for that.

Jebus-Kreist: @Anonymous: Oh ho ho, you can rationalize everything as much as I can, its like atheists and christians trying to convert eachother to their belief. No matter what I say you will stand by your beliefs trying throwing explanations around what I say.

"And finally. "it HAS to be beatable or else it is pointless"... that's the weakest argument I've ever seen for stating a character isn't as capable as they appear, especially for a video game."

What you're saying is that despite every videogame character having to overpower something bigger then them at some point, to emphasis "how much a good guy they are" that suddenly fox's tiny size in camparison to even a human, can out muscle the dinosaur on "fair" grounds because he is stronger? Think of it as tug of war, Strength means nothing if you cannot get a grip, you will be sent flying by someone smaller then you just because you cant get a grip on the ground. Musclefoot is sliding on the ground, occasionally trying to reposition his feet for grip. And also last I saw that was a challenge, thrown in there for fun, not part of the main storyline.

"Arguing against Fox using human-style fighting techniques? You may as well start bitching about how he walks about on two legs, wears clothes, has capacity for speech, and flies around in technologically advanced futuristic aircraft while you're at it."

I do.

Claws, because ya,know, weak ripped up, soild is going to allow claws to get a really nice grip, tearing it up without any problems or hopes of grip. Boots? Compact it down into reasonably solid ground, and at an angle increase grip further.

"And no offense, but I call bullshit on your last comment. You can flail around wildly, maybe. Actually fight against bigger, stronger enemies than you with a ranged weapon that you don't know fighting techniques for? I'm guessing you've never tried it."

So ya, Fox picks up a staff of which he has no idea how to use, and suddenly gains the ability to hold off what was it, 2-3 enemies almost as soon as he picked it up, of stronger size?

"The strength you put into your swing, as well as where you strike, means just as much as the range."

It's been proven so many times in history that mobility and speed beat strength ANY day.

"Otherwise you may as well start arguing you could beat up a bear with a stick just because that stick gives you some distance."

Thats just silly, like trying to kill someone by overhand smashing them with a butterknife, at most they will get a tickle and smack you silly where their bare hands. And quite frankly now that i think about you can, just stay out of its range and hit it in the head as much as you can, thats if it doesn't have a point.

As stated before this is like 2 different groups arguing between what either believes fact. There will be no victors in this argument.

It's been proven so many times in history that mobility and speed beat strength ANY day. A weaker weapon of longer range can easily beat a stronger weapon of short range if it stays away. Kind of like a shotgun versus a rifle at 100m, shotgun will win point blank, rifle wins afar.

Anonymous12(6): "Oh ho ho, you can rationalize everything as much as I can, its like atheists and christians trying to convert eachother to their belief. No matter what I say you will stand by your beliefs trying throwing explanations around what I say."

You're seriously comparing this to arguments between atheists and christians? I'm starting to reconsider the "troll" possibility.

"What you're saying is that despite every videogame character having to overpower something bigger then them at some point, to emphasis "how much a good guy they are" that suddenly fox's tiny size in camparison to even a human, can out muscle the dinosaur on "fair" grounds because he is stronger?"

No, you're saying that, not me. What I'm saying is that the games do give reason for Fox to be depicted as somewhat muscular and/or physically capable as seen in pictures like this. If he was a weakling or unskilled (since you're also arguing against his fighting abilities), he simply wouldn't be capable of performing certain activities.
And tiny? 5 foot 8 is pretty close to the statistical average height for a human male. In fact in certain countries, it's shorter than that.

"Think of it as tug of war, Strength means nothing if you cannot get a grip, you will be sent flying by someone smaller then you just because you cant get a grip on the ground."

And in order to apply that grip and hold it, you still need a certain amount of strength and combine it with enough leverage to get the job done. Otherwise you might as well be trying to hold a log in place with a twig, which just isn't going to happen. You keep missing my point. You don't need to be STRONGER, just STRONG ENOUGH.

"And also last I saw that was a challenge, thrown in there for fun, not part of the main storyline."

And that shows how little you know about the game. You have to BEAT him, to advance the storyline. Seriously man, arguing when you don't know shit about what you're talking about is among the dumbest things you can do on the internet.

"I do."

Then stay out of the world of fiction. I don't think it's the place for you.

"Claws, because ya,know, weak ripped up, soild is going to allow claws to get a really nice grip, tearing it up without any problems or hopes of grip. Boots? Compact it down into reasonably solid ground, and at an angle increase grip further."

On a flat surface? Yes. But we're not talking about a flat surface are we?

"So ya, Fox picks up a staff of which he has no idea how to use, and suddenly gains the ability to hold off what was it, 2-3 enemies almost as soon as he picked it up, of stronger size? "

Suddenly nothing. Fox is established as someone who knows how to fight in-canon. You keep conveniently trying to ignore that in order to make your argument work. Plus, as you kept trying state previously, he's hitting enemies with a long stick. Try putting someone who has no idea how to fight properly, like yourself I'm guessing, in the same situation. Chances are, you won't be so lucky.

"It's been proven so many times in history that mobility and speed beat strength ANY day."

No it has not. ALL attributes need to be balanced. Without the strength to back up your strikes, all the speed in the world won't help you at a certain distance (and you end up flailing wildly, and doing nothing). And without speed, you have nothing to fall back on (and the strength you try and apply to your strikes. Plus, since you weren't paying attention, I actually did talk about mobility (i.e. "where to strike" and "just as much as the range") previously.

"A weaker weapon of longer range can easily beat a stronger weapon of short range if it stays away. Kind of like a shotgun versus a rifle at 100m, shotgun will win point blank, rifle wins afar."

Except that analogy doesn't work when you're talking about PHYSICAL COMBAT. You kind of need to get in close at some point. Seriously man, you're obviously capable of thinking, try doing it harder if you're going to stick to this. Plus, a weaker weapon with longer range won't mean worth a damn if you don't land a target. And someone unfamiliar would be far less likely to.

"Thats just silly, like trying to kill someone by overhand smashing them with a butterknife, at most they will get a tickle and smack you silly where their bare hands. And quite frankly now that i think about you can, just stay out of its range and hit it in the head as much as you can, thats if it doesn't have a point. "

Wait... first it's silly, then you say it can be done? Well, if you feel like fighting a bear with a stick, go right ahead. Your funeral.

On the whole, this little discussion keeps getting more and more pointless.

Jebus-Kreist: @Anonymous: @TheDogman: Oh hahaha, watching your anger as I throw pointless info around is amazing, you keep trying and trying to get it something into my head, rewording things over and over, teeheehee.

Time to stop attacking your soldiers(points) and start attacking your General(who is leading the points).

You use 1 game to prove fox is muscular and all the facts about him(though technique was given to him so he would actually stand a chance in super smash bros. and carried on as canon for him). Then I guess since we are talking about Dinosaur Planet then I suppose you wouldn't want to leave out anything else about him hm?

Apparently he has the voice of a 13 year old boy just reaching puberty now, oh teeheehee. And in comparison Krystal is taller then him, even though fox is wearing boots that raise his height slightly and she is effectively barefoot.

Also, Fox's model in adventures was a recycled version of Sabre as far as I can remember, because it was suppose to be about sabre and krystal, then nintendo decided he looked alot like fox and BAM, longterm series ruining game throwing random items into the starfox series. So what you could be looking it is Sabre's physique, not fox's you silly goose. Especially when he should be fairly strong in any super smash game but he lacks ANY power and makes up for it in speed and quantity, even kirby is better on power and hes a ball of pink.

Back to the topic, apparently Krystal has the ability to change her voice's pitch and accent at her will, when she "magically" learns english *cough human* which everybody but her and the dinosaurs were speaking. She went from a 12 year old girl(relatable to fox's 13year old boy, sabre) to a well matured 20+ british accented english... oh silly silly, but you apparently support it. They could have made any character out-muscle a dinosaur, but they chose someone of unbelievable size, so now you stick to it as pure fact and a backbone of your argument, even though it's interchangeable, whatever, boohoo it's like watching another typical hollywood movie, unbelievable things are done and people love it so much they try to reason it into reality.

So I suppose Fox also learned how to use pole-based weapons in the cornerian military too, because that's what you are clearly saying, let alone standard military is whatever weapons are standardized. But I guess they can teach everyone how to use weapons from literally thousands of years earlier and that much outdated too.

Apparently you also support the shenanigans behind having space-based enemies in fighters WHEREVER fox goes. Ancient planet stuck in the stoneage-to-iron age, lets throw some space fighters in there. And while we are at it lets have them suddenly have the capacity to make and use "finely" made technology without a hastle when andross shows up and they still have the intelligence of neanderthals... it all makes sense...

Lets also throw (quite literally) Magic in there, it'll... make... sense? You know what lets make Krystal telepathic too, but not confirm it until a later game, because Andross can control things with hugely technological "feats" that can be destroyed by 1 confusingly designed fighter that shouldn't even function given basic physics, It will make sense to have her able to read messages from other planets, but not peoples minds 3 feet away from her, LOGIC.

Quite frankly it kind of makes me happy microsoft bought out rare, they kinda stopped rare from making anymore games like that for nintendo without thinking thrings throw thoroughly.

Oh, and another thing, the enemies are designed to be beatable, make a game with enemies that cannot be beaten and the best chance you have to win are running through everything and hoping there are no bosses of sorts to stop you dead in your tracks. Give the sharpclaws anywhere near the fighting ability they should have, because they are stuk in the ages of old where close quarters combat is everything, and I'm certain that fox might be able to take out 1 at a time for a limited amount before tiring, but add a second enemy and he is beaten for sure. He was THROWN by a regular sharpclaw before saving... tippy? and also how did tippy get literally 3km away in 10 seconds... silly silly.

And also you support fox having infinite stamina as well as strength, being able to take out any and all enemies without hastle.

Oh the nonsensery you support, but if you fell that way go ahead, pollute your mind like nintendo accidentally polluted the minds of innocent children into converting to furries.
Oh ho ho ho...

Even if fox is suppose to be 5'8", that makes literally no sense. when compared to characters in the super smash bros series, he appears to be more around the region of 4'-4'10, to the realistic human characters that is. Plus that makes more sense on an anatomical scale, considering both the size of the animal he originates and how drastic the change would be(impossible). Plus as an added fact, Krystal is registered as the SAME height as fox, not shorter. All reasons given, It is reasonable to assume that Nintendo has exaggerated their statistics to be on a more human scale(but anatomically it is impossible), and that if he were to meet an actual human(apparently impossible), they would tower over him like an adult to a 14 year old.

I am an idiot for what? Understanding basic anatomy and being able to see double-sided flaws?
