That's my theory of recompense: A person guilty of a crime should be punished according to how many people have been wounded/murdered/stolen from/inconvenienced etc. For example, someone who spams millions of people with shit emails should be executed because of the volume of the crime, not the so-called 'severity'. Anyone capable of doing mass-anything should think twice before inconveniencing us all. Those are moments of our lives we'll never recover, spanning millions of lives. Eventually adding up to decades of wasted time/effort/production.
