bAv-R34: Fun Fact: In the Killing Floor's Summer Sideshow event, I went up to one of the spinning plates with a clot nailed to it in the Abusement Park map, spammed 'use' so that the plate would spin back and forth repeatedly, and I said "LOL LOOK AT ME, I'M SKRILLEX"
Lulz were had.
Lapp: Uhm, Skrillex's stuff from Bangarang and on didn't appeal to me at all.
I hate saying it since people tag me as a hipster_faggot, but most of the time I listen to older-style dubstep: Kromestar, Digital Mystikz and all... But the constant bitching it's exposed me to is annoying as fuck. I can't help but be bothered by the constant misnomers in classifying artists, but calling newer artists "dubstep" just feels incorrect.
I love a lot of the new artists all the same, and saw Excision/Liquid Stranger and Skism/Dodge&Fuski live not long ago, but why call all these vastly different artists "dubstep" when "electronica" would create less disagreement and make it easier to find more artists of tastes you enjoy.
...PS, the only non-electronic artists I can generally tolerate are Franz Ferdinand and Greenskeepers. €.€
Anonymous2(1): @Faptacular: Same, although I'm mostly attached to alternative, rock and related subgenres.
Probably the only band I like almost all the songs of is Depeche Mode.
CrotchboobAddict: Music thread? I listen to some metal stuff, some 60's psycadelic inspired shit.. and what's it called, stoner rock, punk rock.. That's pretty much it and... music from games. But I pretty much listen to anything that sounds good
bAv-R34: @Faptacular: That's basically how a lot of shit gets in my music folder.
Although I myself prefer videogame soundtracks, mainly because I usually listen to music in the background on a loop while I do shit, so I usually enjoy it more if it has no vocals and it could be looped smoothly for several hours.
Speaking of which, I will play almost any [interesting] game as long as it has a good soundtrack. I have saved almost every soundtrack for all the games I played.
Anonymous4: Deadmau5 is... well, I'm not the biggest fan, let's just keep it at that. But it sure as fuck beats Skrillex, any day of the week. Deadmau5, meh. Skrillex? FUCK. NO. (And this coming from an long time electronica-fan. And not a hipster-one either.)
Anonymous5: They are both equally good in their own right.
That said, neither are good artists.
Dubstep sucks. Brostep sucks. Electro sucks.
Classical is where its at. Especially 20th century Russian Romantic[era] music.
Anonymous7: I really like Skrillex's music, not only the electronical ones, but the music he made also when he wasn't Skrillex yet, but that's probably because I really like him as a person too.
I like Deadmau5's work too, a lot. Guy's really got talent. But I listen to everything, one of my all time favourite bands is Switchfoot. I'm not really good at telling which genre is what, but from what I know so far - I think I have a soft spot for good dubstep, from time to time I listen to things titled "blahblah (dubstep remix)" and some of them seem really enjoyable.
But pretty much everything can be awesome. Metal, pop, jazz, rock, alternative, tribal music, electronica.
Anonymous9: Someone should show this to deadmau5 on his next livestream. I think the combo of Rule34 (which he's seen most of at this point) and Ponies would certainly cause a ....... unique reaction to say the least.

Let's just enjoy the music we like and stop all these pointless YouTube arguments about subjective topics like music taste.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go listen to some Outkast.
Flying lotus + mono/poly = real music

If I hear something I like I usually just download it and put it on my MP3 player. I've got a little bit of just about everything on there.
Probably the only band I like almost all the songs of is Depeche Mode.
