caelenvasius: @Freezer: because shippers be crazy, and neither Sokka nor Toph have established mates by TLoK. We have no idea if Sokka stayed with Suki (though I'd like to think so), and although we know Toph has at least one child (Lin), we have no idea who the father was. So I'd say, let the Tokka's have their fun, since they're not technically breaking canon yet.
Comixfan: @Freezer: Actually, "Tokka" shippers have been in full force since series one. The two characters just made more sense together then Sokka being paired up with Suki.
There were also several instances in the show that highlighted Toph's feelings towards Sokka, and even the moment where they almost die together in the finale. He even travels with her for a time, post ATLAB, in the Dark Horse tie-in comic.
LoK just inspired Panda to create these pieces based on us seeing what Toph and Sokka look like as adults.
Comixfan: @Freezer: There's no evidence they had sex, just that they'd been sweethearts for a time during childhood and into their late teens before Tenzin met Pema.
As for their being cousins; while Nickelodeon would never allow for it to be a factor in the story, it's actually a pretty common occurrence around the world, even today.
It's just in the West, primarily, that it's taken on the same negative connotation as borderline incest.
Anonymous1: In regards to Tokka, I'll point out LoK didn't really kill it in the end. It only confirmed Toph isn't Lin's birth father. We were never told who Suyin's birth father was. And she has an appearence more in line with the Water Tribes than the Earth Kingdom, especially when looking at her son Bataar Jr. Doubly when to this day we still don't have enough straight answers on what happened to Sokka and Suki over the decades (namely if they stayed together or not).
