Lapp: ^ It fits a kid's show, 'cos it'd make them politically correct as all fuck by the main character being an intelligent young black woman.
Would Twilight be the main character? I wouldn't use "protagonist", but I think that she could be counted as the main character :s
Lapp: @Lapp: I don't mean to come off as racist in the case that I do, just media will often do anything to stay politically correct and "holier than thou". Maybe I should have different expectations for FiM, I dunno.
PinkBallons: @Lapp: Nah, that didn't seem racist; just stating facts. I'd like to think that FiM is different where it counts, but Hasbro still pulls crap that pisses me off sometimes. Like how they've been removing episodes from Youtube, and their refusal to make toys that look anything close to the characters from FiM.
PinkBallons: @Lapp: Omfg that pic made me laugh so freaking loud just now.
I don't believe people should be treated any differently due to their race, but that doesn't mean racism can't be funny.
Roflcakes: Seriously though, Twilight is fucking white as fuck! I don't get the whole Indian Twilight or Black Twilight thing at all. It seems to me like a really poor attempt by the artists/colorists in question at shoehorning in ethnic minorities for the sake of being 'politically correct' or 'multicultural' or some shit. Can't leave out the token black character! Wouldn't want people to think we hate attractive and successful Africans or anything!
AnonV3: @Roflcakes: I used to sit in front of this valley girl in one of my high school classes. Tight shorts, cheerleader, listened to fucking Avril Lavgigne - or whatever her name was - to 'be punk,' Hanson brothers posters, fucking NSYNC and all that shit.
Her ass was blue-black. Her family was straight-up east African. Like, immigrated from Ethiopia or something. She was valley through-and-through though. So why can't the smart, booky and socially inept girl be black again?
Roflcakes: @AnonV3: We can! Its just my own interpretations of these characters humanized races is more in line with this image than most of the other humanized pony images. I don't know why that is, but that's just the way I imagine them as humans in my head.
I'm fine with artists drawing Twilight as any race they like, because obviously they interpret the characters differently to me, but I personally don't see the connection. Twilight has always been white as the driven snow in my headcannon.
Anonymous6: I'm not racist, but I just prefer that any time someone could be white, that they are. Personal preference, but african americans are not generally as attractive as whites. Now that I think about it, I'm racist as fuck. I mean, my grandfather was a fucking nazi. O.o
Twinkie: BRING BACK SEGREGATION! sry u guys sound like history class, in the show nobody is actualy skin color based...... THE MANE SIX IS WHITE! xD hahahahahaha come at me bros
Knockers: You're all arguing about cartoon ponies who are various shares of green, purple, orange, and blue, and who don't have human forms in anything except perverted fan art.
If it's human!Pony, they can be any damn skin color the artist wants them to be.
Anonymous10: I personally see RD as white, Twi as Filipino, AJ as tanned white, Rarity as Korean, Pinkie Pie as half-Latina, and Fluttershy as white (probably of French descent). Everyone's headcanons are different. And this is an awesome picture regardless ;D
Now, Twilight's and Fluttershy's eyes aren't flesh-toned.
