How SOME (not all, but a big part of the "fandom" that they call themselves "bronies", if it is the minority or the majority only time will tell) of you guys dont like the G1, or the previous generations of ponies?
They are adorable in their own right and they can be interesting in a way.
The only reason I can think of is because most of the guys that drool over FiM ponies (not talking about liking or not the show) never seen or know the previous generations so the characters are unfamiliar to them.
Anonymous9(2): @deathstriker: There is nothing adorable in G3.5. The other gens yes, they have their charm and I very much like the G3 toyline and its characters (in terms of accessories it blows the FiM toyline away) But 3.5 is a pure abomination in just about every way.
G1 is okay. Not that bad I guess in terms of design, definitely better than G3.5 and I like it slightly more than G2 as well.
But that's my 2 cents only as far as the designs go. The shows are radically different and hardly comparable, before FiM they were written by marketing divisions and not actual writers. G2 didn't even have one iirc.
