sol_efn: @HiddenD: No, he's a Rock type gym leader. Yes, all his Rock types in Gen 1 are part Ground, but he's the Rock type leader. He's the first boss of the game so they aren't gonna throw you stuff like Aerodactyl or Omanyte up front. The Ground leader from Kanto is Giovanni.
Kinda like how Flint from Sinnoh is the Fire Elite Four despite most of his Porkyman not being Fire type.
