fishmonger: @Anonymous: @dennisandmooch: I understand these posts are ancient, but I needed to comment... did those women give birth in the Dark Ages or something? I worked at a maternity ward, and after natural labour or even induction of labour was unsuccessful, C-section was the next option. If a patient failed to dilate, she got a C-section, end of story. No 3- or 4-day labours... if you fail to progress for a few hours, you get cut.
I did have teenagers in my ward... one girl, 12 years old I think, was screaming so loud the adult woman in the room across the hall was scared to death about what would happen to her (she was on her first child).
