Anonymous4(2): @Anonymous: Harley and Joker is probably a more problematic relationship than all of this. Sometimes bad decisions are made either by the characters or the writers. But I seriously have to wonder what is going on through the more sensible Grayson’s head when he was banging this damaged and troubled woman... besides cum I mean.
Anonymous5: It's not so much that Barbara and Bruce are icky as DC can't decide her age. In early comics, she was much older than Dick. Like, Terry Long age difference. Nightwing: Year One did the odd trick of having them go to prom together. Made worse by one simple fact: Before "zomg best Robin EVAR!" became Tim Drake's official title and fuck Bendis and Tynion for that and for being shitty writers in general, Dick and Jason were also geniuses, and before the New 52, there was no timeline where Dick didn't graduate early, and in fact, the timeline doesn't make sense if he graduates at 18.
Pre-Crisis: Two years in Washington working for Barbara, still some more time before New York, turns 20 during Crisis in Infinite Earths.
Post-Crisis: Fired by Bruce at 17, though everyone agrees it's silly.
Post-Zero Hour: Same as post-Crisis, but fired at 15. He was born two years later.
Dick and Barbara are only a couple in the final timeline, which coincidentally is the one where he demonstrably is the youngest when he graduates.
And now she's a bat-cycle, even more than Kori apparently. So, it just gets worse.
Anonymous6(2): @Anonymous: That sounds a lot like how they keep trying to inject youth into Spidey so that he’s younger than Jessica Jones, Black Cat and all the other heroes. Age is just sort of a nebulous concept in comic ain’t it?
Anonymous7: (1) she was never that much older than Dick in the first place. She was only SIX years older. You literally have a pre-crisis comic in which Dick is stated to be 19 and Babs is 25. Bruce at that time was probably in his mid thirties.
(2) Since post-crisis she has been portrayed as being roughly the same age. Flashpoint took it a step further and made them the same age. It's not like DC has been flip flopping about how old she is, since post crisis they've consistently (mostly) portrayed her as slightly older than Dick. I agree with Anon 6 that age in comics "is just sort of a nebulous concept".
(3) I would say nothing is inherently wrong with Babs having a romantic relationship with Bruce. She shouldn't be messing with Bruce IF she has had a relationship with Dick. It's dysfunctional to sleep with your boyfriend's (or former boyfriend's) family members.
(4) The only bat-family members she has dated in the canon comics are Dick Grayson and oddly enough Luke Fox. The relationships with Bruce and Tim respectively were both non canon. Bruce/Babs comes from Bruce Timm's perverted mind. It isn't a coincidence that Bruce Timm was behind BTAS and The Killing Joke Movie.
Anonymous8: Eh, one term in the House is two years, and Wolfman mentions Dick being 19. So 19 and 27, since Bans culdn't run before that.
My issue is more with Dixon, which is when she's de-aged. Dixon suddenly learning the fans pair Babs and Dinah. So we have her back with Jason Bard, again, and Ted Kord, before Dick. And she's taken safely out of Dinah's "acceptable" range this way. And I miss how Marv Wolfman would play along with fan speculation. Dixon's no fun that way.
Anonymous9(8): *Babs couldn't run before 25. Fucking autocorrect, keyboard, Paheal randomly disabling my keyboard.
But in the post-Crisis, he's explicitly said to be 17 when he's tired. And Zero Hour subtracts 2 from his age. But not everyone's: Tim's age stayed the same for obvious reasons. I do mock Ray a lot tho. (First sign Jean was cuckoo.)
Anonymous10: Barbara is super hot, brilliant (she and Tim are like the smartest members of the bat family, even more than Bruce), and an amazing fighter, who wouldn't (male or female) want to get into her tights?
