It's obviously foot pads. Rabbits have those, presumably their socks would be shaped to contain them.

Anonymous8: Technically, rabbits have thick tufts of fur on the bottom of their feet through which pads, if they can be said to exist at all, would be difficult to see. Hares, on the other hand, have highly visible pads, if I remember correctly.
