And how do you know incest isn't canon for the characters on the show? The show is dated as pre-industrial (Earth?). Many royal dynasties in those days were committing incest with relatives to keep the blood lines pure. It's not a stretch to believe a family as arrogant as Ozai's, with a mentality of "Most Supreme DNA" in the world, would do incest to keep those bloodlines as pure as they could. I'm surprised Ozai chose to marry Ursa, who was outside of his family tree.
