Combined with the fact that he still avoids doing lewds despite the fact that many, MANY of his patreons straight-up wanted that when it was brought up in a poll about a year ago asking for the direction on what people wish to see (lewds, cheesecake, just art and oh what a surprise, 66% wanted porn), which basically means he ignored 2/3 of his viewerbase.
Some say it's because PayPal isn't usable to pay for adult content, which this would entail on Patreon if he were to change to do just that, yet that is clearly a muddled argument. I, and many others that I talked with, used PayPal to pay for support of porn creators, game devs and the likes for several years by now. I remember it being a problem like 10 years ago when they actually enforced those terms of service, but I feel it's now just used as an argument to avoid the issue that people want it and have to actually go to some other guys to commission work for those characters. The demand is clearly there since this and the other big commission by BigDeadAlive exist here.
He could get some top dollar at this rate, yet my personal theory as to why he still avoids it is because of the hassle it is to set up adult content on patreon, switching it to your primary focus apparently involves lots of work and also that he grew too attached to his webcomic, focusing on that every couple days instead of delivering to patrons - just check the text below the latest webcomic (2510) - talking about how he had to push forward to do the last reward this month. I reckon if the money flows in constantly, you can easily go slacking instead of putting up work and adult content would definitely be more work than what he has to do now.

tom641: @Anonymous: i guess the one "advantage" is that his shit it so weak that nobody really cares to leak it like most NSFW patreons. ) It's just the same teasing stuff you see in the webcomic only in better art quality.
Plus I guess he's maybe afraid of rocking the boat since he's already moderately successful, which I guess I can understand. Still pretty blatantly leaving money on the table though. And intentionally making an inferior product is a mindset I can't understand.
