dlt: @Anonymous: Perhaps this is a commission and whoever made the order wanted to have exclusive ownership of the finished picture? That is usually the reason. For example, Fern/14-Bis has drawn plenty of finished pics that never see the light of the day because they remain private commissions (can't say I'm a big fan of this myself).
Another explanation could be that he's not 100% satisfied with the pic just yet and has put shelved it for the time being, possibly waiting for that specific creative spark or a moment of motivation to get it properly finished. The problem with that is, though, that the pic easily ends up getting never finished and then becomes buried under new and more interesting ideas that DO get completed... and eventually there might come the moment where the old pic no longer looks good/appealing enough to the artist and it gets abandoned for good. In addition to this, the more you work on a specific pic, the more quickly you tend to get bored with it and just move on to new stuff. Can't say if all artists feel this way but almost everyone I've talked to have admitted this to be the case, except maybe Fern as he can whip up a complex digital painting in just a matter of few hours.
I know this because I've seen it in his art folder when he saves/opens work during streams. 99% of what Samson draws is never uploaded or shared.
