Anonymous5: @Anonymous: No, the writers jumped the animation gun. When the XYZ anime was midway through finishing, Yo-Kai Watch was becoming very popular during the time in Japan for young audiences, possibly moreso than the Porkyman series was maybe. Finding out about this, they designed the Sun and Moon anime to be in a comedic style and atmosphere similar to Yo-Kai, which was a very bad move on their part since by the time XYZ ended [btw, best series ending so far, should have gone with Ash to Alola. At least then there'd be something interesting to look forward to then...], Yo-Kai was hardly as popular as it was a few months prior, but they released it anyways.
TL;DR, animators freaked out about Yo-Kai popularity, fucked up Sun and Moon's animation to be similar to them, which backfired in more ways than one.
