To justify the hands being this high and horizontal, you'd have to have them set closer, so he could have his back bent as much as possible and his elbows bent too.
Or you put his hands palms up, but I'm not sure he could be bent that far back.
To keep the hands as they are (horizontal and widely spaced), I'd suggest to put the holes at the level of the brick row just above his "premium rump". This way, he would be more or less horizontal and stretched back, but still keep his spine... :-)
