Anonymous3: She used a Jedi mind trick on a stormtrooper without having any prior force training. She was also able to beat Kylo Ren who has received actual training without having any herself.
She may not be a Mary Sue (which she actually isn't because the definition of a Mary Sue goes beyond "OP with no probable cause") but you have to agree that the next movie had better give an explanation as to why she can do that shit.
Otaku_H: She lived on a desert planet alone since she was a child. She'd had far more survival training than Luke did. It is unsurprising that she could at least hold her own against a foe who was distracted and not thinking clearly.
And there's nothing in canon that says Jedi mind tricks are hard. In fact, in Ep4, Obi Wan even says it's a simple thing to control weak minds.
Otaku_H: I don't have to agree to anything about explanations. I didn't want no "midichlorians" explanation, I don't need any "Rey is good at what she does" explanation. It's a fun movie. Seriously, men are "just good" at a lot of things in countless movies, why can't we mix it up for once? I'm tired of the same archetype over and over again. We finally start getting some variety in heros and trolls and fake geek gatekeepers need to come along and try to shit on it.
Scottie: Kylo was injured, not trying to kill Rey (he wanted to turn her after all) and she had to use the dark side to beat him. Really simple to see why it went down that way.
