Ivy being lesbian is one of the undertones that have been with the character since the beginning.
Though its mostly in the sense that she only uses men's sexual attraction for her against them by kissing them with her lips which have a lethal nerve toxin that accumulates in them naturally. She also releases pheromones that enslave men.
No man is her equal and indeed she views men as inferior.
While that is a largely inaccurate and negative stereotype of a "lesbian", it still would hold that women are more likely to be seen as equals and thus respected.
Respect is the beginning of love and thus she really would focus upon women if such mattered at all to her.
And when the Joker tried to kill Harley,it was to Ivy that she ran.
Subtext or context or whatever, it is certainly something that could be built upon.
