jubilation_t_cornpone: It doesn't matter. For the hundredth time, don't use series_(character) or character_(series). You get the same pics with "series character". Without bullshit tags for every possible combination.
jubilation_t_cornpone: That said, love the tits, especially the dent on the underside from her hand. That's why big tits on cartoon girls are so marvelous. The solid silicone on most real girls that size wouldn't behave like that.
O_Rly: Well in that case, can someone get rid of the series_(character) and character_(series) tags? I also think they're really stupid. One example of this that keeps popping up is Bayonetta.
O_Rly: I think it would help adding this to the rules, or by making it an announcement. It seems that only a select few users (i.e. Goodwin) do this regularly anyway.
Farfegnugen: I think Bayonetta_(Series) is one the very few exemption only because the series title is her name. If I want to find images of Jeanne but none of Bayonetta, using "Bayonetta Jeanne" will give you both characters. It'll change if Platinum gives her a last name, like like how with Mei from Overlook.
O_Rly: Yeah, but couldn't you just put -Bayonetta in the search tag? You'd still get pictures of only Jeanne that way. Most of these issues can easily be solved with the filter system.
Farfegnugen: @O Rly: But that removes the Jeanne from Bayonetta. See what I'm getting at. But yeah, have some way to label what's a character and what's a series would be nice, but lotta people can't tag properly anyway.
O_Rly: And even then, the regular Jeanne tag mostly consists of the one from Bayonetta. I don't see why some people have to get so specific with tags, for the most part they're ridiculous.
Farfegnugen: @O Rly: Yeah, Bayonetta for long hair Bayonetta, and Bayonetta_2 for short hair. Jeanne switches hair length with Bayonetta between games too. With DoA, the characters doesn't really change much between games. Kasumi looks pretty much from Dead or Alive up to DoA 5: Last Round.
Goodwin: Don't see what's a problem with these (character) tags really. There's a franchise name that covers all entries and characters in it (Bayonetta, Shantae, Mega Man, Inuyasha etc.) and then there's an eponymous tag meant for the specific character itself. Simple as that.
That being said, I like danbooru's take on this. Both franchise and character are separated and highlighted in different colors so you know exactly how much they're counting at.
Concerning Honoka_(DoA) thing - I thought it was staff approved so just rolled with it.
Farfegnugen: @Goodwin: When I posed the question in my first comment, it was aimed at you, not really a general question. I checked some of the earlier images Honaka, and it showed you edit the tags 10 months ago, just to add the (Character) tag. It's been in the tagging guide for some time, more than 10 months, not to do that. There were 3 pages of Honaka, and five of those images have been just for some Naruto filler character, so it doesn't make sense to make the DoA Honaka the one to get the (Character) tag. Personnally, I don't mind Character (Series) for shared names that danbooru's does, but "their site, their rules."
The best thing to do is not worry about Stuff_(Whatever).
O_Rly: I like Danbooru/Gelbooru's take on it too. But Farf is right. Goodwin, there's really no need to go back and edit the tags just so certain characters are easier to find. It just creates an unnecessary tag that serves the same purpose of looking up the title series. Again, this is what the filter system helps with. And it's something I doubt most people who come here even are about.
Farfegnugen: I like I said with Overlook, Mei has a full name, so there's no need to pollute the Mei tag with 200 images of her when there's 200 images of Mei from 30 different series. Plus, people were tagging her with Mei and Mei-Ling_Zhou, so that really didn't make sense. If I'm looking for someone, I much rather do a one tag search than two or three. But for some, like myself, it does add confusion why this character is special and this one is not.
O_Rly: I've thought of using the Cereza tag for Bayonetta since that IS his real name, but at the same time I'm not sure. Plus it's already used for her child self. So IDK, really. This is why I'm glad I'm not a staff member.
Actually, there is a rule about it, in the tagging guide.
"If a character only has a first name, don't make a compound tag in the form character_(series) or similar to differentiate that character from others with the same first name. You can accomplish the same thing by searching for "character series". The compound tag may even make it more difficult to find pics, since those with a compound tag won't show up in a search using the separate tags, and vice versa. It splits up the pics for the character into two different tags."
series_(character) would be the "or similar".
As far as getting rid of them, you can report them and we can get rid of all of them in one shot with the mass tag editor, and we can prevent them from coming back with an alias. But since people do this shit so much, without permission, you need to report it. We don't necessarily know it is out there.
Though Bayonetta IS a special case. We would have had that problem with Kim Possible, but she has a middle name. So it's Kim Possible for the show, Kimberly Ann Possible for the character.
