Because of that, the perception of Female Shepard is that she is a lesbian more often than not. Garrus and Kaiden were popular, but between Kaiden being killable (and boring) and Garrus not being an option in the first game (and working better as Shepard's BFF), a lot of people stuck with Liara simply by virtue of being the most appealing option in the first game and not wanting to dump her in the second. Sure, romance options don't always factor in when people make porn, but sometimes it does. Also, Liara is hot.
