Anonymous1: This episode.... blew my mind off the water.

Best part:Almost everything, including the yellow brick road spell, Rarity's dark magic obsession and the moral

Worst part: That fat puppeteer needs some rule34 (with Rarity) immediately.

9001/10 would watch again.

ColdFeet: This episode was actually pretty good, yeah. Best I've seen so far (in season 4 at least). Crazy Rarity FTW!

G_Goobington_the_2nd: I thought it was alright.
I mean, I enjoyed it, it was a good Spike episode, a good Rarity episode, and it's been awhile since these two have shared the focus of an episode. I liked the background continuity, I loved the dark magic; how it infused itself with Rarity's horn, and it was its own entity that was possessing her. Tabitha -as always- gave a great performance, and the moral was perfectly executed.

I dunno. I guess I feel like they could have done more with a setup like that. Like the entity starts convincing Rarity that its ideas are hers or something. And Spike is the only one she'll let get close. And it wasn't like they didn't have the time for something bigger.

The episode is by no means bad. I just found myself a bit underwhelmed with it, considering what it had going for it.

AnonV3: @G_Goobington_the_2nd: The problem is that it's a half-hour show. Two part 'episodes' tend to be my favorite just because they have time enough to explore the themes more thoroughly ... and most of those focus more on action etc. But it is the nature of the programming. Can't have things be too complex for the kids I guess.
