Anonymous1: Well, this was technically already "remastered" >>1187581 The remastered version was, however, pretty poor quality-wise (I don't mean to be rude, but it's objectively awful)
I decided I could do a better job.
It's pretty hard to find a place to cram my signature when there's practically no background.
Thunderdome: I personally like the other one more in a lot of ways, TBH. The shading seems kind of weird in this.
And couldn't you just have put your signature in white in the top left?
Sorry, but I don't like the effect you gave to her hair, and her eyeshadow sucks... Also, what is up with the background? It's very distracting. You also forgot to clean some of the lines, but all in all it's alright.
skunkwolfe: I'm kinda divided on this one. I prefer the colors on the other edit, over all, but her mare-y bits seem more appealing here. :p Also, her face looks better in this version.
Anonymous5(1): @Brollyhero93: I didn't clean any of the lines; I just used the original sketch. (Moreover, I don't think you're justified in criticizing the lines of this version considering your 'cleaning' of them just ruined it.)
Is there any particular reason you're apologizing for not liking aspects of the image? Really, it's fine. It's nigh-impossible to find an image where you agree with every piece of it.
anomalous: I really don't see this as much of an improvement. The shading isn't well defined and looks muddy. I'll stick with the black and white line art.
Anonymous7(1): @anomalous: Mind elaborating a bit on what you mean by definition? Admittedly, I'm not exactly skilled in the terminology pertaining to art. (Also, muddy? I've legitimately never heard that adjective used to describe art)
anomalous: @stingray970: Fair enough, my post wasn't very clear. By "muddy" I mean that the colors blend together and create a dark, unsaturated tone (particularly in her hair and her cutie mark). When I said the shading wasn't well defined I should have said that it needs more contrast. The tones blend very broadly and I feel the shadows should be darker and the highlights brighter. Also, I would probably have used a white-pink color for her coat rather than white-grey, but that's just personal preference.
That's all just personal opinion which came about because I felt it was unjust of you to call Brollyhero93's coloration "objectively awful".
Anonymous8(1): @anomalous: Ironically, I actually lowered the contrast because I thought that the initially heavy shadows would've detracted from image quality. Suppose I was wrong on that front (really, I should probably just avoid image filters)
The issue I personally had with highlights was that Celestia is a white pony. This isn't typically a problem because I like to use varied light colors while shading, but the light in this image was white. (If you know a way that it can be improved in such situations, I'll gladly try it out)
Perhaps you don't like either image more than the other enough to be able to call one an "improvement," but I won't retract that statement. I'm rather blunt when I don't like something, and I certainly welcome the same. Feel free to call me an arrogant prick; you have the right to do that if that's how you feel :D
