Seeman: @Lapp: How the fuck can a torso remind you of a siren from KF, don't tell me you had a closer look at that screaming bitch? You crazy unattractive and unsuccessful African!
Lapp: I wanna hope high for Evil Within, but I don't know with jump scares being the predominant "scary" nowadays. "Scary" being a misnomer for startling the audience.
Lapp: @Roflcakes: I want to say the same of Frictional for the new Amnesia, but even the first Amnesia wasn't as scary/atmospheric as the Penumbra series, imo. A Penumbra re-vamp would be the best possible thing, if it didn't get somehow lost in time-translation.
And Mikko Tarmia isn't doing the soundtrack for Machine for Pigs, apparently. I cried when I first heard the news. The new lady is talented, but only time can prove if she can rival Tarmia at what he does.
Roflcakes: @Lapp: Well the new Amnesia title isn't even developed by Frictional, so that throws a spanner in the works from the get go. I do agree with you about Penumbra though...
Lapp: @Roflcakes: I took that as such a given fact, that I never even noticed! Tarmia is pretty much at the core of the team with 2 other guys, so I thought it was weird for him to be absent from it.
Penumbra's plot was like a heavily modified Apostle's Creed story, without the element of return from hell. Disempowered the player (without actually taking control from the player and yelling "QUICK TIME EVENT!"), and its controls were janky enough to be horror. Two elements overlooked for a good horror vidjagaem, especially the latter.
Roflcakes: @Lapp: Yeah, I know right? I'm not the biggest Chinese Room fan either... Apparently Frictional are overseeing the development but who knows how much actual input they'll have. And yeah, it is a shame not to have God-tier Tarmia working on it, because his sound design more than anything else is what I'll miss the most.
It's interesting how the realistic, physical interactions with your environment managed to make every action feel like such a large task, huh? But hey, if anyone understands those integral horror game concepts it's Shinji! unattractive and unsuccessful African invented survival horror after all. I'm pretty sure he's also gone on record stating his dissatisfaction of the state of horror games these days, so that bodes well for the project.

@Lapp: It's Shinji Mikami bro! Knowing his creative vision, there's no way he could fuck this up.
