But from both an aesthetic (again, imo) and biological standpoint, Spike should not have a hemipenis. The whole point of it in lizards and especially snakes is so they can successfully mate sideways when facing either direction, but dragons (at least in the FiM universe) can easily stand on two legs for seemingly any amount of time. Because of that, a hemipenis would serve no purpose, and most likely actually hinder reproduction.
That's the way I see it, anyway. I don't claim to be an expert in any of this; it's all just based on info I've gathered from various internets. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anonymous2(1): Hemipenes don't make sense. Lizards and snakes have them because they breed sideways. This is because A) no legs or B) legs that are not carried beneath the body. Spike's legs are carried beneath his body. He wouldn't need to tail wrap because he doesn't have to go in from the side from behind invariably. Look at turtles, tortoises, and crocodilians. They don't breed from the side, and they also have one penis. Without a need to have intercourse sideways, evolution doesn't select two penises over one.

Or are you confusing your personal preference of a kid's cartoon character for fact?

@PinkBallons: It makes about the same sense for him to have it as to not have two dicks.
