Also, if an artist decides to go DNP 'cause someone on the internet dared to insult them or their work once or twice, then that's hilariously immature (and not to mention fairly unlikely) and says more about the artist than it does about anyone bashing them.

Regardless, if it was indicating a change in site rules, they would have made that clear. I'd say it's just a suggestion you took way too literally.
