It's actually pretty common for women to do to keep men around in lower-class communities, the kind of men that would run off otherwise...girls skip birth control to say the guy has responsibility. In some places, the guys end up murdering the women to prevent that, though.
Never heard of a guy doing that, though...must happen, I suppose.
