Anonymous3: @bAv-R63, She has a nephew (blueblood) that couldn't possibly be Luna's since she was imprisoned on the moon for a thousand years and he was around 20-30, then again Lis probably isn't old enough to be the mother of bluebl... What the fuck am I doing? It's a kids show, I ain't gotta explain shit!
Chef_Retardee: Blueblood is a nephew on Celestia's mother's side 50 times removed according to Faust. (He was also going to be a duke, but they thought that might be confusing.)
Anonymous5: >Blueblood is a nephew on Celestia's mother's side 50 times removed according to Faust
>Celestia's mother's side 50 times removed according to
>mother's side 50 times removed
>50 times removed
How the fuck.
Anonymous6: ^ Celestia is apparently immortal since she ruled for over a 1000 years. Come to think of it, WHY are she and her sister such powerful and immortal beings that have features of all 3 Pony races, yet their other relatives are mere unicorns, including their mother since she seems to not be around anymore?
And on a side note, it's weird how they deemed the Duke title to be confusing for children when they use obscure terms and weird wording on regular basis. Case in point, Rarity's song Becoming Popular mentions a french saying crème de la crème and a rather uncommon "Belle of the Ball". I don't think many kids would understand those.
Hierolocc: I wrote a story once that makes the supposition that both Cadence and Blueblood and Fleur were the results of Genetic Experiments by Celestia in mixing her Alicorn genes with the embryos of regular ponies, which accounts for Fleur's unusual ganglyness and how there could be another Alicorn besides Cele and Luna.
If Blueblood and Cadence were indeed clones or otherwise genetically engineered, the fifty-times removed thing could relate to how many experiments it took before Celestia was able to dilute her genes enough to create Cadence.
If you play into the theory that Cele and Luna are semi divine, with their "Mother" being full Gods, it would make sense to downplay those divine genotypes by dilluting them over fifty "generations" of experiments, until you had something like Cadence: An Alicorn that cannot threaten the balance of the world in any meaningful way, and will eventually die, but still be similar enough in form that Celestia would be able to develop a family bond.
