Anonymous2: I don't think Shikamaru's shadows were ever shown to be capable of physical piercing. Besides, he and Temari are not enemies, just mere rivals, so the murder of her is out of Shikamaru's character.
If this was done with Sakura and Sasori it would be more convincing, since Sasori's manipulation of metal sand looks similar to Shikamaru's shadow technique and it could actully cut through things.
Anonymous3: Gomennasai, I'm not entirely sure about in Part 1, but early in Part 2, his Kage Nui demonstrated an ability for his shadows to come off the ground (for the first time) and pierce/destroy a few of Sai's ink beasts. Now, those were probably not as tough as flesh/bone, but it's hard to say.

I agree though, it doesn't make sense killing Temari with the technique. I think this was a little overboard, a bit of shadow bondage would've been enough (impaled arms and leg, at most).
