Regarding Fara Phoenix, didn't even know of her existence, and the only reason dislike was generated toward her was because of the people "supporting" her. Seems a bit of a contradiction killing any movement towards a character being liked, by generating that much more hate towards an already established character that many people already like.

Fara_Phoenix: Warrior, she's still as official as everybody else, Fay and Miyu excluded. She just didn't appear in later games because Nintendo went Zelda with StarFox and decided to make another universe completely unrelated to this one.

Sintime: well, I just let the reality of Krystal being in a game, having many fans, and being a part of other such media speak for me, oh, and I'm pretty sure there's more art of Krystal's staff than Fara Phoenix, and her staff is also in a game! So by default an inanimate object is more popular than her ... :D tsk tsk Fara, poor, poor, poor Fara ... do you need a shoulder to cry on?
Fara_Phoenix: No, all I need to know is that, by every possible definition, Fara fans are much more devoted to her than Krystal fans are to that blue one. They know they're the last of their kind, and stay strong and faithful.

Fara's pretty in her own right, i just always preferred Krystal though, to me shes sexier! and of course shes more popular cause shes actually in the games... but Fara was pretty much Foxes first "supposed girlfriend", although i dont remember them getting all that close in the comics
true... Fara=Nintendo and Krystal=Rare <like some of the characters in Super Mario 2 were actually from Doki Doki Panic but were made into Mario characters like Birdo for example... that ugly thing is in alot of mario games these days but he/she/it was originally a doki doki panic character!
