I've done some checking and it turns out that throughout history there's been several 'artists' who could have taken Nimdok's advice to "seriously reconsider art as a viable option". There's this Vermeer guy - apparently only 35 or 36 of his works exist. That's ok 'cause once you've seen a few, you know what the rest will look like. Ditto for Rembrandt, Raphael, Norman Rockwell.Lots of folks know what a Toulouse-Lautrec painting looks like, even if they've only seen one. A near-sighted chimp could spot a Van Gogh from across the room, and the less said about Jackson Pollock the better. M.C.Escher? (Yes, that's very clever, but can't you draw something NOT fucked up?). And don't get me started on this Picasso dude - hopefully he didn't quit his day job. The list of talentless hacks who squandered their lives pursuing a career for which they were poorly suited goes on. Oh! If only Nimdok & his ilk were there to advise them that "they should seriously reconsider art as a viable option". :o)
