Uncle_Matt: I believe they were refering to "Giga" watts, but the actor pronounced it "jigga" and either they didn't care (puh-tay-toe/puh-tah-toe, etc) or they thought it was funny the way he said it.
Yet_One_More_Idiot: Anon2 - Nope, we pronounce it Gigawatts with a hard G sound too. The reason it was said that way in the movies was that none of the cast or crew actually knew how to pronounce the word, so they guessed and stuck with it.
Mainly they didn't know how to pronounce Giga properly because it was before the Giga- prefix became so widely used in computers with Gigahertz, Gigabytes, etc;...
