Shinnok fought Raiden and other gods and it was a combined effort to put him down. So I kind of disagree with your oversimplified assessment of these characters. I don’t think Shinnok even in a weakened state is worthless in battle.
The green halo energy was sort of explained kind of and was only relevant once in MKX for Johnny and Cassie becoming subsequently useless and irrelevant immediately after and throughout the entirety of MK11 making it the most bullshit ex machina power up outside of Dragon Ball.
