Anonymous5: idiot, if you watch the show, you would recognize her outfit right away.
I personally like it. In a non-anime sort look is pretty good. I mean look at how comic book characters get make overs.
Ya i just spotted the Tachikoma too.
viking warrior? you're a fucking idiot. and hey get this would Batou look japanese? just because its anime and in japan does not make them automatically japanese. that is up to the writer and even still shes a cyborg, hence a mannequin. have you ever seen an asian one? also......a good point
anime characters never look japanese.
korblborp: togusa seems to have a bit of gaijin in him, and who can tell whether batou or the Major are japs or not, batou sounds like a french name (and i've seen it spelled with an a & an e), the manga suggests that 'motoko kusanagi' is not the Major's real name, but an alias (understandable, given her spec'ops background), and that she may not even be one person (in the opening chapter, anyway, and it does become true in GITS 2.0). we can't judge nationality by names, appearances or language in a world where any body could have a prosthetic body, or electronic translators and computers 'grown' in their heads, and people keep their own appearance only by choice or means. And the Major's body is a generic, meaning mass-produced with no specific person in mind.
At first I thought this was Aeon Flux...

anon forgives
(she wears pants up to her ass cheeks in the show)
Yeah, I think having the show in Japan and having all of the characters be Japanese would probably make them Japanese automatically.
