In 2005, they had spent that decade basically doing nothing. They gave him some love interests, retconned most of Batman lore so Oracle isn't a pedophile because "they were always together", and retconned some more to make Nightwing a gigolo to get rid of his "I only sleep with people I love" comment to Arsenal. (The "Nightwing's a go" retcons were after Chuck Dixon left.) Having created DickBabs, they then had a weird vigilante force herself on his mouth, breaking up DickBabs and foreshadowing the same vigilante taping him and proof Tim Drake is the only competent Bat. Dick attempts suicide twice, once foiled by Tim and once by his own conditioning. And now Infinite Crisis, where the nihilism started by Blockbuster is kicked up a notch by Deathstroke. Oh, and that storyline where we learn Bruce and Babs are racist. (And Ra's is just being a troll.) Yeah, I was debating if Dick was just a relic. I literally hadn't enjoyed Dick since the early 90s.
DC surprised me, gave Dick a (third) brother, went full Cain and Abel with Jason, killed Bruce, and made Dick the in-universe face of the League. (The true leader is always Oracle, just because nothing happens without her knowledge and approval.)
