Woozle: Apples and oranges. Allowing normal Transformers to have a gender leads directly to shrieking fangirls making Starscream somehow pregnant via Megatron (even though both are still "male".
Vitani: It's not r63 Starscream is generally portrayed as smaller than other mechs or "femme-like" by most fangirls, myself included. Most of us just like imagining him as a submissive mech when it comes to anything sexual but being a sausage otherwise.
Oh and by the way, "Transformers," actually Cybertronians, have no gender. They simply have different frame types. Mech, femme, Seeker(Starscream), Praxian(Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen) etc.
You shouldn't always believe Wikipedia. I actually have a book published by IDW that states Cybertronians aren't gender biased. It's called "Transformers: The Ultimate Guide." Bought itin Books-A-Million for $30.00
