Voslar: Wrote something up last night and this morning. 95% of it was before I actually saw the episode, so it doesn't line up entirely, but it still more or less fits. Concerns the period before the episode, where Fluttershy left town to look after the breezies for a bit.
Be warned: I've written futa, futa on male, genderswap impregnation, unbirth, and even breast absorption. This is STILL probably the weirdest thing I've ever done.
Voslar: You know what? I'll be honest: I had a bad feeling about this episode. It's a Fluttershy episode, which are often rather weak even despite my love for the character. It was a breezie episode, and they.... well... suffice to say the term 'merchandise-driven' comes to mind, and we'll leave it at that.
I'm happy to say I was wrong. I wouldn't call this a God-tier episode or anything, but this was an excellent, fun watch. It expanded on the Equestrian mythos in a satisfying way, (which I always adore,) the characterization was solid, the breezies had just enough depth to their characters to make them interesting to watch and have me actually care about what happened to them, and the moral of the story was a rather deep one.
To be honest, I'm surprised they tackled such a complex idea. The idea of needing to be stern or even forceful with people on occasion to truly do what's best for them is a tough message to get across to kids, but they didn't shy away from it here. I'm impressed the show had the guts to go there, and equally pleased that in the end, it was still a thoroughly positive message that kept to the show's overall theme. 9/10, would happily watch again.
PS. I know breezies aren't exactly tough, but seriously? Half a swarm getting taken out by a LEAF?
PSS. Did... Did Fluttershy try calming those bees down with fanservice!? W, what...
I loved how the opening for episode 16 of season 4 was the opposite of the opening for episode 16 of season 1: Sonic Rainboom.
I also loved the breezies just in general. I loved how you could really feel how delicate they were. I especially loved just how otherworldly they felt. They weren't just small ponies with insect wings and antennae glued on for the sake of selling merchandise, but were something unique, that felt organic to the lore. They were handled the way the crystal ponies should have been.
It goes to show what I've been saying:
That something was mandated by Hasbro doesn't matter. What matters is what the show staff does to integrate it into the lore. TCE wasn't a disappointment because it was mandated. It was disappointing because the staff was frankly given a goldmine of materiel to work with, which they failed to do anything interesting with. But I digress.
Really loved the ending with Sea Breeze. That was genuinely heartwarming. And the moral was excellent.
I can't wait to see all the crossovers with "Can You Spare A Dime?"
"I love new ideas that make me feel funny at first."
Roflcakes: I enjoyed the stand out stuff immensely, but sadly I felt it started to fall apart towards the end. Like others have said, the moral was a very interesting one to tackle and I felt it was decently explained (given the context).
Fluttershy's characterisation finally leaving the trash can is what's really warming my heart immensely though.
6.5/10. Decent episode, but, like last weeks episode it simply doesn't stand out that much amongst the truly great episodes in this season.
Voslar: Huh. I guess no one cared for that story? Well, it was awfully out there, to be sure. I like pushing my limits sometimes. Guess I pushed a little too hard on that one.
Roflcakes: @Voslar: The episode discussion kinda took over, haha. I didn't want to double post but I did enjoy it.
I get the feeling you really understand the fetish too, because you highlighted all the good bits (such as the bulge of the various breezies as they went into him). Definitely fapworthy, but I'm extremely biased as urethral sounding is one of my top fetishes.
Voslar: @Roflcakes: Thanks :) I put some effort into that one, bizarre as it was, so I'm glad it was appreciated. And cockvore / sounding are not really my thing... but I do appreciate the more gentle and loving aspects of unbirth, and I was able to apply some of that here.
As for the more... metaphysical aspects of the story, I wanted to create an emphasis on unity and symbiosis, and not so much predation and thoroughly impossible biology. I actually really like how that part turned out.

Don't worry. The swedish bughorses are about as far-removed from the original breezies as you can get.
