Stormfin: The band-aids show that she's either willing to get on her knees, enjoys being a bit of pain, and quite possibly both. Eye would be better red, though. She needs freckles, too. She's Irish. She needs them to survive.
An_Onymous: I think it's because the band-aids evoke a kiddier image (think of how often you or your friends skinned your knees when little) and so add just a hint of loliness; not enough to be awwwwwright, just enough to flavor the image a bit.
